Water Detection: It Is Hard!

3/17/2021 (Permalink)

Water Restoration can be a tough job!  Although each situation is unique, one thing is always the common factor: water is involved!  Our main focus when SERVPRO of Jackson arrives to your home or business after a water loss is to ensure that our skilled and trained technicians successfully locate the problem and successfully dry out the loss location.

What Is Important?

Figuring out the movement of water in the affected area is very important.  It makes a difference in the cost of mitigating a water loss and the length of time that mitigation takes if the proper steps are not taken to remove the water, remove the affected materials if necessary, and dry out the affected materials that remain onsite.  Thankfully, SERVPRO of Jackson has the right equipment, the right detection tools, and trainer employees who know exactly what to do to save you money and time.

Water: Stop It!

3/17/2021 (Permalink)

Water: How Do We Stop It:

Stopping water movement is not always easy.  SERVPRO of Jackson employees are trained to know how to stop water from spreading when a water loss occurs.  Here are some step we take to limit the spread of water once we get onsite at a water loss.

  • STOP the cause of loss (stop the flow of water!)
  • Extract the water that has already spread around the loss site
  • Start setting equipment such as dehumidifiers to manage humidity.  This limits the spread of moisture through the air.
  • Remove affected materials that will substantially slow down the drying process, such as baseboards and / or drywall.
  • Then air movers will be placed to start the drying process.  We will make it like it never even happened!

Why SERVPRO?  You are choosing a nation wide company who has been training teams for decades.  Experience is important!  Call SERVPRO of Jackson and Madison County.  We're Faster To Any Size Disaster!

Dashing Through Your Ducts

3/31/2020 (Permalink)

Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing.

If not properly installed, maintained and operated, these components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris. If moisture is present, the potential for microbiological growth (e.g., mold) is increased and spores from such growth may be released into the air of your commercial business. Some of these contaminants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms in people if they are exposed to them.

Ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality. Make it a priority to inspect the ductwork of your business.

If your HVAC has been operating for some time without attention, it could be circulating one or more of the following:

  • Dust
  • Pollen
  • Odors
  • Dirt and debris
  • Other contaminants

The benefits of servicing your HVAC unit include:

  • Helps to restore peak energy efficiency.
  • May help to eliminate offensive odors.
  • Helps reduce the potential for mold growth.

For more information on air duct cleaning, call us at SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison today, 601-353-2286.

Classifications Of COVID-19 Cleaning

3/30/2020 (Permalink)

Much like water damage categories, there are different levels of COVID-19 cleanings, precautionary, suspected, and confirmed. These differences determine protocol when it comes to providing preventative measures as well as cleaning & disinfection after someone within the building has tested positive.

Precautionary/Preventative - cleanings are a measure taken when there has been no confirmed or suspected cases.

Suspected/Person Under Investigation - cleanings happen when there is reasonable suspicion that the virus is present, or one or more people that have been in the building have been tested and are waiting for results.

Confirmed - cleanings happen after there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 onsite.

It is very important that property owners and business stakeholders recognize their own abilities, comfort levels, resources, and risk factors. While all stages require proper precautionary & intentional steps, the CDC has issued the following protocol in regards to, Confirmed cleaning & disinfection:

  • Workers must be trained to follow OSHA regulations
  • Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) donning and doffing
  • Compliance with Bloodborne Pathogens and proper disposal of of regulated waste and PPE
  • Disinfectants used include - diluted bleach solutions, alcohol solutions, household cleaners followed by disinfectants, EPA registered household disinfectants

SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison County understands the immediate need for all stages, which is why we have made ourselves available 24/7. We are able to offer disinfection services to buildings of all sizes, including residences for those in need. Please don’t hesitate to call our office for more information on proper protocol, pricing, and the products we are using.

SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison County is well aware of how serious this virus is, and wants everyone to take the proper precautions during this time. There are quite a few things that you can do to try and slow down the spreading of this virus. According to the CDC, people should practice social distancing. Injectidry Can Save Your Wood Floors

3/26/2020 (Permalink)

There are many reasons that you want to call SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison County, and one of those reasons is the equipment that we use on the job site. Not only do we use air movers and dehumidifiers, but we also have specialty drying equipment as well.

One of those pieces of equipment that we have is our Injectidry system. SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison County is the only mitigation company in the metro area that uses this system. The Injectidry system is used when a loss has occurred on a hardwood floor. Unless the floor has begun to buckle, the Injectidry can be used to potentially save the hardwood flooring instead of having to pull and replace it. The Injectidry system contains a series of mats that are sealed tight to the floor, and these mats have hoses attached to the top that are hooked up to a vacuum that pulls the water out from underneath the floor. The water travels to a filling tank where it can then be dumped out.

We have used our Injectidry system to save many customers from having to replace their hardwood floors. If you would like to inquire more about our specialty drying equipment, please give us a call at 601-353-2286.

SERVPRO of Jackson & Madison County has been working hard to bring you the best restoration service experience.  We asked our customers to give us some feedback on Google on how we performed. We were overwhelmed by the kind words our customers said about us.  We were even recognized by our corporate office for accounting for the most 5-star Google reviews in the SERVPRO system in 2019! #1 out of 1,700+ franchises!  WOW!!!

Let’s take a look at some of the things our customers are saying about us:

From:  John Mitchell

 Positive: Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value

The guys at SERVPRO were great. Joseph came out on time and gave me an estimate that was comparable to the others, but much more detailed. He explained exactly what they were planning to do instead of just giving me a number like the others. Once the crew got there, they began work immediately and never slowed down. They kept everything clean while doing the job (as clean as possible when you’re tearing things out and remodeling)! I can’t say enough about the professionalism of this company and its employees. I would highly recommend using them if you are in need!!

From:  Kaden Goss

Positive: Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness

THANKS to SERVPRO and especially Andrew, who helped after we had a leak!! He was incredible! Very professional and insightful. Definitely recommend and would use again! Thanks again Andrew!!!

From:  Sherie Abeles

Positive: Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value

I have roof damage from all the storms we've had and a ceiling with water damage.  Called SERVPRO of Jackson they were out to my house fast. Took pictures and sent a team to do repairs to ceiling and drying out.  Gave me great advice to call my air condition guy to re-wrap from water damage before they repair my ceiling. The guys are awesome.  They know what they are doing and walk you thru the process. Be smart, call these people 1st before anyone else. I give them 5 stars.

We love hearing all of these encouraging words from our customers.  Please call us for any property restoration or reconstruction needs:  601-353-2286.

The Jackson Microbial Menace

4/2/2019 (Permalink)

When black or green spots start to show up on your walls and ceilings, then there is a good chance that the spots are beginning stages of microbial growth. Microbial growth manifests when bacteria is allowed to cultivate in an ideal environment. Microbial growth needs moisture to thrive, and can have serious side effects of the tenants of the property. Do not let someone tell you that you can bleach the microbial growth away. Bleach does not penetrate porous materials which is what needs to happen to destroy the microbial growth. If just wiped away, the microbial growth will come back with a vengeance. It will only come back stronger. SERVPRO of Jackson and SERVPRO of Madison County, MS is a reputable restoration and remediation company with a professional staff that brings many years of experience to the table. We qualified handle your microbial growth issues and have the antimicrobial necessary to eliminate the problem. Call SERVPRO of Jackson and SERVPRO of Madison County at (601) 353-2286 to go to chemical-war against the microbial menace. We will make it "Like it never even happened."

Microbial Growth Removal

4/1/2019 (Permalink)

In this image, the home was infested with microbial growth from water damage that was not dealt with properly in the past. SERVPRO of Jackson's professional demolition team removed all the affected materials and applied antimicrobial treatment to prevent any possible reoccurring microbial growth. It is important to always treat water damage in a professional manner using the latest moisture reading equipment to ensure structure materials have dried properly. If materials are not dried within seventy-two hours microbial growth has most likely occurred. Dwelling in a structure with high concentrations of microbial growth can possibly be detrimental to a person's health with a possibility of causing nasal and throat irritation, as well as eye and skin irritation. Microbial build up can also intensify allergies in homeowners and pets. SERVPRO of Jackson is highly trained in microbial growth remediation.
